Minutes of MFA Meeting, April 28, 2014
• The monthly meeting of the Montague Family Association was called to order at 7:50
p.m., EST. In attendance were Jo Anne St. Clair, President; Suzanne Hamilton,
Secretary; Curt Montague, Treasurer; & Robert V. Montague, Historian.
• A motion was made to accept the minutes of the March 31, 2014 meeting as
presented. The motion was seconded & carried.
• Treasurer’s report: Not much change in the bank balance. We have one new member,
Vivian Noblett. She paid $25.00 by check which brought the current balance to
$1,188.14 with $388.14 in the general fund and $800.00 in the mailing fund. A
motion was made to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented. The motion was
seconded & carried.
• Curt Montague advised that he & Robert V. Montague were working on the mass
mailing list, parsing duplicates & making other corrections as needed. He expected
the mailing to go out around the middle of June, 2014.
• Curt also stated that there had been little change in the results of the reunion survey
since the March meeting & that it seemed the consensus was leaning towards a
Virginia location with a historical connection to the Montague family.
• A brief discussion took place regarding possible sponsorships for the reunion as well
as shared donations to assist with expenses. The possibility of “tiered” registration
fees was also mentioned with the fee being tied to the number of events participants
• The fees charged for the 2010 reunion were also discussed; it was decided that Jo
Anne & Suzanne would work together to find alternatives on the previous charges.
• A brief discussion took place regarding Richard Montague’s research in London
regarding the 1634 Visitation of Boveney documents. The research is ongoing & it is
anticipated that more information will be forthcoming.
• There being no more business to discuss, a motion to adjourn was made at 8:51 p.m.
EST. The motion was seconded & carried.
• The next meeting will be Monday, May 19, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. EST.
