Jo Anne St. Clair, President
Jo Anne St. Clair is a 12th generation direct descendant of Peter Montague of Jamestown, Virginia. My Mother was Alma Dorothy Montague St. Clair, originally from Portsmouth, Virginia. My Father, Elvin Monroe St. Clair was also a native of Portsmouth and owned Bootsie’s Food Market for 35 years. I grew up in Portsmouth and the former Nansemond County, now the City of Suffolk.
I am a 1971 graduate of Longwood College (now University) with a BA Degree in Political Science and I later received a Master in Social Work from The University of South Carolina.
I have been employed in the human services/public services arena for over 40 years and am currently employed by the City of Columbus, Ohio as a Manager of a Neighborhood Pride Center and a Neighborhood Liaison. I am the proud parent of Jon Roberts of Wheeling, West Virginia and Nana Jo to Zoe Minh Roberts.
I am involved with my Church, First Unitarian Universalist and my own neighborhood civic association as Treasurer. My great-grandfather Montague was very involved in state and city elected office, so I think my interest in politics is a result of DNA. I am an avid antiquaire and enjoy gardening and the outdoors, as well as genealogy. I hope to play some small part in the development and success of the Montague Family Association. I hope you will
join us in this endeavor.
